A Live Photo can include motion and audio from around the shutter moment. Play it before sharing. If you want a still or muted version, use the available Photos editing and sharing controls, then inspect the exported result in the destination you intend to use.
Check the seconds around the picture
A Live Photo can capture background conversation that you did not notice while taking the image. The thumbnail shows one frame, so it cannot tell you everything the asset contains. Press and hold to play it and listen before sending.
Pay attention to the background as well: a monitor, address label, or other person can appear in the surrounding motion even when the selected key frame looks harmless.
- Open the Live Photo in Photos and play it with sound.
- Use Edit → Live Photo controls to mute or make a still when appropriate.
- Inspect the actual shared or exported copy to confirm it has the intended behavior.
Check what the destination receives
Sharing formats vary by destination and the options selected. Do not assume every service preserves Live Photo motion, and do not assume every export removes it. Inspect the result using the route you plan to use.
Apple’s All Photos Data option can include the original with metadata and edit history on supported sharing routes. Read that option before using it for a privacy-sensitive share.
Keep the private original without sharing it wholesale
If you want to retain a sensitive original, Octoshield can store an imported copy locally. Check the imported asset and any motion or video components you need before removing the source; do not assume format preservation without verifying it.
Export only the version you intend to distribute. Vault encryption protects the stored copy, not an image you already exported to a chat or another app. For a public post, review that final share copy independently.
