Open the Burst in Photos, enter its individual-frame selector, choose the frames you want, and tap Done. Review the keep options presented by your iOS version. Deleting the Burst thumbnail can delete the sequence, so choose your keepers inside the Burst first.
A Burst cover is only one moment in the sequence
Your child jumps, the dog catches a ball, or a friend finally opens their eyes. The cover thumbnail cannot show all of those moments. Open the Burst itself before deciding that the whole set is blurry or that the first visible frame is the best.
Photos can mark suggested frames, but your choice should reflect the moment you wanted. Check the full image, not only the small preview. Two frames can both be worth keeping if they capture different expressions or stages of an action.
Save the useful frames before removing the rest
Find the Burst in Photos, open it, and tap its Burst count or frame-selection control. Select the circles on the images you want to retain, then finish with Done. Read any keep-only-selected or keep-all choice carefully because wording varies by iOS version.
Afterward, return to the library and open the retained frames. Verify the images you intended to save before performing another cleanup. If you are preserving a one-time event, an independent export is sensible before a large deletion session.
- Open the Burst and its individual-frame selector.
- Choose the sharp or meaningful frames you want to keep.
- Tap Done and review the keep options before confirming.
- Open the saved results in your library.
Measure the saving instead of counting thumbnails
A Burst can contain many frames behind one visible thumbnail. Conversely, keeping several excellent frames may be worth more than the storage saved by keeping only one. Use iPhone Storage to assess the actual result after processing completes.
Recently Deleted can retain removed material during the recovery period. With iCloud Photos enabled, library changes affect synced devices too. Avoid doing an experimental Burst cleanup on your only copy of an important sequence.
Review the rest of the event with Octoshield
Once Photos has handled the Burst, Octoshield can help you review the other ordinary photos from your library. Keep strong frames, queue unwanted ones, or move a sensitive photo into your encrypted local vault.
Cleaner is not a Burst editor. Use Apple Photos for frame selection and check the final deletion queue before approving the next batch.
