EVENT & SECURITY FAQ

Everything About the Halloween Vault Collection

How the seasonal locks, Haunted Crypt transition, and Apple Universal Links work on iPhone and iPad.

OctoShield's Halloween 2026 In-App Event introduces two seasonal lock methods—the Halloween Pumpkin Pattern Lock (Jack-o'-Lantern Carve, 13 points with a 5-point minimum) and Coven Ritual (12 orbiting charms that reshuffle clockwise after each of 6 casts)—plus the Haunted Crypt opening and closing vault transition animation.

Yes. Whether you carve a 13-point Jack-o'-Lantern path or cast a 6-charm Coven Ritual sequence, your secret is combined with the method identifier, stretched with PBKDF2-SHA256, and bound to your iPhone's hardware Keychain key to wrap your 256-bit master key. All photos, videos, and files remain encrypted on-device with AES-256-GCM.

If OctoShield is installed on your iPhone or iPad, opening https://octoshield.app/halloween from a supported iOS app (such as Camera QR, Notes, Messages, or Mail) launches OctoShield via Apple Universal Links. You can also select Jack-o'-Lantern Carve, Coven Ritual, or the Haunted Crypt animation anytime in Settings → Lock.

By Apple's iOS Universal Link design, typing or pasting a link directly into Safari's address bar keeps you on the webpage. When browsing in Safari on iPhone, tap OPEN in Safari's native Smart App Banner at the top of the screen.
